Bio :
Hi everyone! My name is Fay, I am here to help you through any questions you may have in relation to IVF, adoption and parenting. I am a proud mother of an 8 year-old boy through (IVF) and I also have another boy who was born sleeping (also through IVF) I call him my angel baby! Being an adopted person, I have first hand experience of how it feels to be adopted and the struggles and tribulations that go alongside it. I generally find there is quite a lot of help out there for prospective adopters through the likes of social workers and charities but not much guidance from anyone with lived experience. I was adopted into a white family at 10 months old, so not only did I have the very normal struggles with 'belonging' as an adopted child but I also had the added interracial aspect, which at times was a hard and lonely journey. There are many gems I would love to share with you regarding how to make the transition easier, not only for you, but also your child/children throughout your family life. Being adopted, I can only describe the most overwhelming feeling that something was missing. Almost like I had a big whole in my heart, the never ending feeling of wanting someone to call my own. So I couldn't wait to become a mother! I might not have a biological mother, but I knew I would make the best Mum to someone one day. Unfortunately the parental journey wasn't going to be a smooth one for me and my husband and we realised after 8 years of trying that IVF was our only option. Shortly after, my miracle baby was born and I finally felt, complete. IVF is a rollercoaster of emotions and is not for the faint hearted. I can guide you through what to expect from start to finish. The up's the downs, the what if's, the OMG what have I got myself into and all the other good stuff. Professionally, I have over 10 years experience within the NHS, both clinical and non-clinical. I worked in Maternity for years and loved looking after mums and new borns. I regularly held breast feeding support clinics and I'm happy to speak with new mums who are finding it hard for baby's to latch. The most important thing for mum and baby is that you are both happy, so please don't put too much pressure on yourselves. Help is here if you need it. Alongside my NHS experience I have worked with young people form widening participation backgrounds, hard to reach groups and young offenders so I have some tips and tricks if you are a parent and struggling to get through to your teenager. Most importantly though, I am caring by nature. I'm a good listener and I take pleasure in helping others wherever I can. This life can be incredibly hard, and if I can make yours easier if only for a short time of need, I'm more than happy to assist.
