Technology Awareness Week – What a Success
This week was Technology Awareness Week and our midday posts dealt with various topics around technology and were summed up on Friday.
The posts challenged parents to know who their children are talking to.
Who is talking to your children online?
Who is educating your children and what messages they are being fed.
Communication has changed and many games include messaging and chat. Which some parents were unaware of.
There was a concerning report from the BBC concerning unsolicited violent images being pushed onto teenage boys and younger children. Which is very concerning and something I personally wasn’t aware of.
Technology surrounds us. Wednesdays post dealt with parents intentionally or unintentionally replacing themselves with technology. Using technology as an easy way to entertain their children, and thus creating a technology addiction.
Be mindful of technology. It is a goblin and not to be trusted. Take time to play with your children and remember boredom breeds creativity. Your children don’t need to be entertained all the time.
